I was on my computer when a scan popped up. It is called Vista Internet Security 2012. It is telling me I have 21 trojans, spyware, and other errors? I have AVG and it did not pick up any of this. Now it seems I can’t access things and it seems to be getting worse. What do I do?!
Vista Internet Security 2012 is a variant of the 2012 name-changing rogue program that changes its name randomly depending on the version of Windows it is installed on. This family of rogues is promoted in two ways. The first is through the use of fake online antivirus scanners that state that your computer is infected and then prompt you to download a file that will install the infection. The other method are hacked web sites that attempt to exploit vulnerabilities in programs that you are running on your computer to install the infection without your knowledge or permission. Regardless of how it is installed, once it is running on your computer it will install itself as a variety of different program names and graphical user interfacesdepending on the version of Windows that is running. Regardless of the name, though, they are all ultimately the same program with just a different skin on it.
It is generally something you will not be able to remove without specialized tools and knowledge of the infection. There are guides online but they sometimes don’t remove all of the infection when followed. It is our recommendation to have a professional clean the PC to ensure it is completely done and done correctly.
